But, that doesn't come close to the feeling Feef induced in me.This wiki was automatically converted from the Thief Deadly Shadows Guide (PC) guide at and may require cleanup. I felt let down by Deadly Shadows, but I still managed to get thru it and (mostly) enjoy it. Didn't sound the same, didn't feel the same, and it couldn't even be called a spiritual successor because the spirit was nowhere to be found. They took an interesting, even fairly relatable character in Garrett, and gave us his watered down, Batman wannabe cousin, Gareth. I had to put it down in disgust in the first few minutes. Deadly Shadows was a deeply flawed game, but at least it still mostly felt like Thief, in spirit if nothing else. Gold was excellent, no doubt about it, but the later abundance of supernatural whatsis kinda killed it a bit for me, near the end. ![]() I had to have played that demo more than I did most full games, lol. I came into Thief with the Thief II demo, so that prolly plays a big part in why its my favourite. But the sidequests are alright.įor me, its a little different: Thief II, Dark Project/Gold, Deadly Shadows.and the last one isn't even on the friggin' list. The plot is nonsensical, the characters are flat as cardboard, levels are badly designed, and so on. Only if you forget that it is supposed to be another Thief game. I like to play it from time to time, it can be fun. Contents 1 Garrett's Imprisonment 2 Escaping 2.1 Break out of the cell 2.2 Get Garrett's equipment back 2. It is the only prison Garrett ever gets imprisoned in. Still a good game though.Īnd finally Nu Thief. Pavelock Prison, also known as City Watch Precinct 12, is one of The City's prisons, situated in South Quarter. Still, I think it's inferior to the first two in almost every way. It's more of a pure steampunk than gothic and there are way too many robots, too much light.ĭeadly Shadows was the first Thief game I finished so I have a soft spot for this one. Thief II is also a great game, but its story and atmosphere just don't work for me the way the previous game does. I'm a sucker for gothic stories, and the game has that gothic/dark fantasy vibe. The first Thief (both the original and the Gold version) has always been my favourite, mostly because of the atmosphere and the story. Thief Gold/Dark Project > Thief II > Thief Deadly Shadows > Thief IV But at least it was mostly put together by former Looking Glass crew. Thief: Stabbity Shadows has been pretty thoroughly beaten to death over the years for its tiny levels, gamey design, sloppy controls, lack of rope arrows, swimming, etc. Of the added missions, Song of the Caverns is decent, and The Mage Towers is tolerable, but Thieves' Guild is pure pain. This explains why in T2 I always felt less like a thief and more like "Garrett: Secret Agent Man".Īs for Thief Gold though, I actually prefer vanilla Dark Project. ![]() Looking Glass straight up admitted that for T2 they thought up cool ideas for missions, then tried to come up with a story to string them all together. While Thief II: The Metal Age is unquestionably more technically accomplished than Thief: The Dark Project, and has some amazing missions, T1 has a much more focused plot and a better villain.
